Single girl scholarship yojana
Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme or Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child is a scheme started by the Government of India with the aim of promoting women's education. The main objective of this scholarship is to encourage single girls of the family for higher education and to promote women's education. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to single girls pursuing master's degree (post graduate).
Main features of scholarship
⨀ This scholarship is only for girl students who are the only child in their family, as well as those who have twin brothers/sisters.
⨀ The applicant must be a first-year student pursuing a regular master’s degree program (such as M.A., M.Sc., etc.) from a recognized university or institute.
⨀ The applicant must be below 30 years of age as on the last date of application.
⨀ The selected students are paid Rs 36,200 per month for 36 months.
⨀ There is no exam or interview in the selection process. It is completely based on the documents submitted by the applicants and merit.
Process to apply for scholarship
⨀ Application can be done online on the official website of UGC (University Grants Commission).
⨀ Here choose the option of "Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child".
⨀ To apply under the scheme, the candidate has to choose the option of "Incentive".
⨀ At the time of application, the applicant has to submit the required documents like birth certificate, single girl child certificate, admission proof etc.
⨀ Fill the application form correctly and upload the required documents.
⨀ After submitting the form, an acknowledgement will be received. Keep it safe for future.

Other important information
This scholarship is not for those girls who have already availed any other government or non-government scholarship. If at any time it is found that the student has given wrong information, her scholarship will be canceled and the amount given will be recovered.
The last date of application may vary every year, so candidates are advised to keep checking the information regularly on the official website of UGC. This scheme is not only to promote women education but also to increase the discrimination against girls in the society.
