What is Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)?
Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was launched in the year 2008. It is a central sector scheme run by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). The main objective of this scheme is to provide self-employment opportunities to unemployed youth and promote small industries in the country.

Eligibility to apply for PMEGP scheme:
1. Age: The applicant must be above 18 years of age.
2. Educational Qualification: Generally no specific educational qualification is required, but for production based projects at least 8th pass is a must.
3. Both Individual and Institutional: Along with individual entrepreneurs, self-help groups, cooperatives, institutions etc. can also apply under this scheme.
Grants and subsidies available under PMEGP:
Following are the grants and subsidies given under Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Srijan Karyakram:
1. Rural areas:
⨀ Special category (SC/ST/OBC/Women/Disabled): 35% of the project cost
2. Urban areas:
⨀ Special category (SC/ST/OBC/Women/Disabled): 25% of the project cost
